Salmon Casting Courses
These courses concentrate on the use of the double-handed salmon rod. Overhead cast, roll cast, spey cast, double spey cast, snake roll and other practical casts. They are the perfect way to improve your skills no matter if you are a beginner or skilled and experienced caster.

Fly Tying Courses
Fly tying is one of the great pleasures of fly fishing. To catch a fish on a fly tied by yourself adds something special to the whole experience. Courses are and can be arranged for all levels and types of fly tying, from small trout flies to fully dressed salmon flies. Specialist courses on tying Paraloop flies, of which Ian Moutter is recognised as the leading exponent, take place each year.

These sea trout fishing courses were started by Ken Smith and myself 8 years ago. Mainly fly fishing they provide a fantastic introduction to sea trout fishing, whilst having the flexibility to offer the experienced fisher a serious challenge. Sadly Ken is no longer with us, but the courses still go from strength to strength. The venue is the superb Wainsford House Fishery on the River Fowey. These courses are fully inclusive of accommodation, food and all the fishing you can manage

You arrive on Saturday 31st May and head home on Saturday 7th June or you arrive on Saturday 7th June, heading home on Saturday 14th June.
The first class accommodation is within the 4 cottages on the Wainsford House Estate, near Bodmin Cornwall. Everyone eats together and the food has become one of the attractions of Ian Moutter Fishings. The fishing takes place on the 2.5 miles of the River Fowey exclusive to the estate, there is excellent additional fishing on the 3 lakes also within the estate, which hold wild brownies to a large size, rainbow and magnificent blue trout. The Facilities and Fishing
On arrival you will receive an introduction to the facilities, the fishings and an assessment of your experience and you will be shown the best techniques to use on the river. Anyone requiring casting tuition or a sharpening of their technique will have plenty of opportunity over the 7 days to develop and learn these skills.
Most of the sea trout fishing takes places in the late evening and well into the night. For those who are inexperienced in night fishing, this can be quite daunting, however, after many years of running night fishing courses you can be confident of your safety and that we will quickly make the whole experience extremely enjoyable and when those sea trout take the fly, extremely exciting. Everyone is encouraged to feel relaxed about the fishing, and can fish for as short or as long a time as they wish.
Tackle for the fishing is single-handed rods 9' to 10', 6 to 8 weight. Fishing is best either deep using sinking tips or on the actual surface using surface lures, a very exciting method of fishing. Tackle will be provided for those who do not have their own. We are also happy to advise prior to arrival on any questions about the actual fishing.
