When tying Paraloop flies you can use any material you like for tailing. I have used Coq de Leon fibres for tying the tail in the example shown. This material is now fairly easy to obtain, as compared to a few years ago. It is an ideal tailing material and a good replacement, probably much better, for the rapidly disappearing good spade hackles. Coq de Leon feathers provide long web free fibres that are exceptionally durable.

I use the same micro thread for over 12 years and it has proved reliable throughout that time. It is a polyester thread that is easy to unwind to tie flat and wind to tighten up the thread.

Having placed the hackle through the centre of the loop, you can now remove the loop from the gallows tool if you have been using one. Then pull the hackle brush and loop over the front of the hook eye.

Now dub the thread with a suitable dubbing. I tend to use fine polypropylene to dub the thread. This dubbing will be used to form the thorax.
Make sure the hackle is pulled over the hook eye. Now wind on the dubbed thread to form the desired shape of thorax. I have made it quite bulky.
Now pull the hackle brush loop over the top of the thorax and tie in directly behind the thorax.
